See my "Artsy Aprons" in the Holiday 2010/2011 issue of Quilting Arts GIFTS Magazine! All of the projects are spectacular--- I've already made Pokey's Patchwork Tote and can't wait to make Jamie Fingal's Felted Flower Pincushions. It's at the news stands now!

Encaustic Workshop

Over the weekend I took an Encaustic Workshop from Amber George at the Fallbrook Art Center. Here are some examples of my work. I finished 8 total and had the time of my life! I think I'm now hooked on Encaustic. I've always loved soy wax techniques on fabric. The process I learned was thin layers of wax and oil paint on a board.

TV Segment in Cleveland

I taped a segment for the 700 series to be aired in January. I'm pictured here with Pokey on the set--- such a relaxed atmosphere-- and such fun with all the other artists in the green room!

Seeing Chicago with Melanie Testa

Melanie and I were able to sneak away to downtown Chicago one day during our Create classes. We took the train in from Rosemont and got off very close to our favorite Dick Blick Art Supply store. Loved the store especially since I'm used to shopping from the catalog! Most of the rest of the day was spent at the Art Insitute--- a must to see if you're in Chicago. "The Eye" is a three story art installation in town.....Other favorites were Garrett's Popcorn and deep dish Pizza-- yummy!

Teaching in Chicago

I had a great time teaching in Chicago with the Create Team from Cloth, Paper, Scissors Magazine. The students traveled from all over and were very eager to learn new techniques. I had 2 fantastic classes- Monoprinting from Your Photos and Stitch and Paint. ( We even had use of Bernina sewing machines!!! ) Here are some results from my 2 classes. Looks like the Create Team is already planning next years retreat. I have to mention that I had the BEST "Teacher's Pet"--Many thanks to Sherry!

New Studio

Moving my son to college this month meant I could move into the BIG room for my studio! I finally am organized and can actually find things! I did some more dyeing with Jacguard Indigo Dye Kit---great kit and so easy to use!

Back to Work

Seems like the past month I've been consumed with moving one child to college in Montana while moving another child home as a college graduate (who is now looking for a job). I'm looking forward to getting back to MY work!!! My newest article for Quilting Arts Magazine is experimenting with resist dyeing...lots of fun!!!
