Just finished quilting my "Pink Elephant"- an icon in Palm Desert. I painted this with Patt Blair's techniques using Tsukineko Inks. My sister and I had a great week in Asilomar with Patt. Also started some Italian fruit.
Just got back from chilly Cleveland where I taped 3 TV segments with Pokey and my own hour long video all in one day...phew! Also did a short video for a future e-mag. So hopefully by Irvine I will have my Stitch and Paint Video available.
In January I spent a week in San Antonio with Leslie Tucker Jenison during Jane Dunnewold's Independent Study week. The 10 of us had such a great time! The whole week was charged with energy and creativity. I worked on my "tomatoes" for SAQA's Seasonal Palette. Screening on top of my silk tie transfers. I came home very motivated.
Registration for CREATE Orange County has opened. One of my 4 classes is Stitch & Paint Your Favorite Pet or Animal. I have a NEW class: Shibori- the Art of Resist Painting.... Hope to see you there!
I'm always up for a challenge so this summer I sent in a Christmas ornament for Cloth, Paper & Scissors Ornament Challenge. I very quickly threw the ornament together from scraps in my closet. I finished the ornament by covering a button with a photo of my parents. I didn't realize that someone else would be receiving it so...oh well, I hope they enjoy it!!!
A new article on my Flower Brooches is in the recent Winter 2011-2012 International Quilt Festival Quilt Scene Magazine. It's among the favorite Make & Take projects for Make It University. I recently received an email from a woman who wanted the instructions so she could make some creative ribbons to present for her Quilt Guild Shows. What a great idea!!!
I am so excited and honored to receive my acceptance for the Seasonal Palette SAQA exhibit!!!!
The exhibit will debut in Houston at the International Quilt Festival, November 2012 and travel from there. It's a unique exhibit because each of us (38 artists) is assigned a season and we are to create a 78" x 32" quilt around that theme. The jurors have requested that I follow my tomato theme and stitch & paint techniques. We also will keep a journal displaying the creative process. I have my piece of paper 78" x 32" cut out and on my wall to begin...gotta go get to work!!!
